Stelios Votsis
Stelios Votsis (1929- 2012 Larnaca-Nicosia, Cyprus). He lived and worked in Nicosia, Cyprus.
He studied at the Saint Martin’s School of Arts, Sir John Cass College and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. He graduated in 1955 from the Slade School of Arts of the University of London. He has widely presented his work in many solo and group exhibitions in Europe since the 60’s, among which his most recent participation in 2008 Brussels Biennial. Over the years he took part at The Biennial of Alexandria, The Triennial of India, The Biennial of Venice in 1968 and in 1972, The Biennial of Sao Paolo in 1969, The Bennial of Graphic Arts in Buenos Aires-Argetina, The International Exhibition of New Artists in New York in 1971, The International Biennial of Graphic Arts in Fredrikstadt-Norway, The International Exhibition of Graphic Arts in Frechey – Germany, The International Exhibition of Graphic Arts (Gallery Du Bois)-Pennsylvania and many others.He was awarded the Raskin prize in drawing and a third prize in the European contest which was held in Ostand-Belgium in 1973.
Some of his paintings are part of major collections amonst which the National Gallery of Greece, the National Bank of Greece, the Greek Ministry of Culture, the Commercial Bank of Greece, the Vorre Museum, the Larnaca Municipal Gallery, at the Presidential Palace of Cyprus, the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus and in many other Public and Private collections in Greece and abroad.
